Comment by Mary Kate Leming on August 14, 2012 at 12:15pm August 14, 2012: The City of Delray Beach Parks and Recreation Department is seeking volunteers to serve as assistant coaches for the Delray Rocks Youth Cheerleading program. Volunteers will be responsible for assisting head coaches in teaching basic cheerleading skills and coordinating practices.
All practices will be held at Pompey Park, 1101 NW 2nd Street, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Games will begin on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Hilltopper Stadium, which is located at 2505 North Seacrest Boulevard.
Volunteer coaches are required to be at least 18 years old and must pass a mandatory background check. Experience is not necessary, however, spirit and enthusiasm is a must!

July 23, 2012: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has advised that the George Bush Boulevard Bridge, over the Intracoastal Waterway in the City of Delray Beach, will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic, beginning 6:00 am Monday, July 30th, until 5:00 pm Saturday, August 4th, for bridge repairs.
Traffic will be detoured via US1/Federal Highway, East Atlantic Avenue, and A1A/Ocean Blvd. For more information about this project, please contact Palm Beach County Traffic Division at 561-684-4030.

Please use the Ocean Avenue bridge in Ocean Ridge or the George Bush Blvd (8th Street) bridge in Delray as alternate routes.

Palm Beach County’s Art in Public Places Program is issuing a call to visual artists who reside in Palm Beach County to submit artwork to be considered for a four-month exhibition at the Palm Beach International Airport. Exhibition dates are June 20 through October 24.

Boynton Beach … Beginning May 1, 2012, the Recreation and Parks Department is offering a special opportunity to tennis enthusiasts. Players can purchase a permit to play at the Boynton Beach Tennis Center at a reduced rate which allows for unlimited play.
City residents will pay only $139.50 for an individual permit which is a 50% savings! Non-residents will only pay $249 for five months of play! Players can also receive half off for family memberships. Permits expire September 30, 2012.

I-95 Overhead Sign Installation (Congress Avenue to Boynton Beach Boulevard): This sign installation project includes overhead sign panel installation along I-95, striping improvements and sod installation. Work is estimated to be completed by early summer 2012.
Restrictions: I-95 may have one lane closed in each direction between Congress Avenue and Boynton Beach Boulevard between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am, Sunday night through Friday morning, through April 2012. In conjunction with these closures, there may be intermittent lane closures on the I-95 entrance and exit ramps at Linton Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am, Sunday night through Friday morning, through April 2012.
