Congratulations are in order. The Florida Press Association has awarded Coastal Star staffers with eight awards in its 2012 Weekly Newspaper Contest. We consider this quite an honor since we are the only monthly newspaper in the competition.
The honors are awarded by journalism professionals outside of Florida and came in Division A — which is for newspapers with a circulation of over 15,000.

An article about the Storybook House on Hypoluxo Island that appeared in the December issue misstated the date that the first bridge to the island was built. The first wooden bridge was constructed in 1925.
In a photo appearing with the same story, a caption indicated a young girl standing in front of the Storybook House was the owner’s daughter. This was incorrect. The young girl in the photograph is unknown.

Behind a vine-covered white picket fence on the Intracoastal Waterway, is a cottage dubbed “The Storybook House.” It is one of the first homes built on Hypoluxo Island, and it’s for sale.
