Manalapan: Librarian honored, but worked through ‘presentation’

Manalapan officials scheduled a “special presentation” for outgoing librarian Mary Ann Kunkle, but the guest of honor was a no-show at the March 27 commission meeting.

“Even though she’s not here, we do have a certificate of appreciation for her,” Mayor Basil Diamond said.

    The town also chose a Kindle Fire e-book reader as a going-away present.

Boca Raton: Beach and Park District residents may be able to use Boca library



    The 20,000 people who live outside city limits but inside the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District may get something new for their tax dollars—a free city library card.

  “It’d be nice to see some of the money flow the other way, instead of always from us to them, a little bit from them to us,” said beach-park Commissioner Dirk Smith, who proposed asking Boca Raton to extend the library privileges.

Boca Raton: City and Junior League team on community garden project

Green-thumbed residents now have the chance to grow their own in Boca Raton.

The city OK’d a deal that would allow the Junior League of Boca Raton to operate a community garden on the Causeway Lumber site, next to the location of Boca Raton’s new library. The garden would be on 1.5 acres on the east side of the site.

A Coastal Star: Helping Manalapan Library turn a new page





Maybe it’s because she was a reading teacher and librarian “in another life.”

Perhaps it’s because she wanted to give back to her small hometown of five
