Manalapan: Police Chief Walker to retire after holidays

Police Chief Clay Walker will end 12 years of safeguarding the town when the holidays are over.

‘’Careers do come to a close and I have decided to retire effective at the end of the business day January 2, 2012,’’ Walker said in an e-mail giving Manalapan residents a month’s notice. ‘’I look forward to the opportunity to say personal goodbyes to as many of you as possible over the next few weeks.’’

Manalapan: Ocean Ridge bid for dispatch services still on table

    Manalapan officials are continuing to work with Ocean Ridge to fine-tune their neighbor’s proposal to take over police dispatching and also have asked the Sheriff’s Office for a quote.

    Town Manager Linda Stumpf told commissioners that Police Chief Clay Walker has met four times with Ocean Ridge Chief Chris Yannuzzi and that she also has asked sheriff’s officials to develop a price.

    Until now, the answer has been: not big enough to live in, sleep in, cook in or rent out.

Certainly not big enough to be seen from State Road A1A, so lush landscaping is a must.

Equinox can exaggerate tidal flooding this fall

The autumnal equinox arrives Sept. 23 and that means higher than usual spring tides could threaten to slosh down coastal streets this fall.
