Editorial: What do we like best about Florida? It’s the ‘sunshine’

     Since 1909, Florida’s residents have had the right to see documents created by public agencies and since 1967 a basic right of access to most meetings of governing bodies of state and local governments.

Editorial: Welcome to your newspaper

I love Palm Beach County.

It’s home to me — from the sweet stench of the Glades to the bracing spray of the ocean and everything in between.

I was born here, grew up on Florida’s west coast, and returned to Palm Beach County to attend Florida Atlantic University.

When I arrived in 1984, the Boca Raton phone book was about an inch and a half thick. It covered all the towns from Boynton Beach through Pompano Beach, with Boca and Highland Beach in the middle.

We don’t publish advertorials.

You know: the stuff that looks like a news story, but when you begin to read it you recognize it as being purely promotional.

It’s been suggested by other small publishers that we do this as a way to increase revenue and get editorial content for free.
