Boca Raton: Beach and Park District puts brakes on Ocean Strand

All planning and design efforts for a park at Ocean Strand have been stopped.

The Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District, which owns the oceanfront 14.85 acres just south of Spanish River Park, ordered a halt to Ocean Strand work on Feb. 21 “until a documented recreational need is recognized.”

Boca Raton: Ocean Strand could be dubbed public land

The Boca Raton City Council may act as soon as this month to designate the controversial Ocean Strand property public land instead of zoned for residential use.

With little discussion, the city’s Planning and Zoning Board endorsed the change for the 14.9 oceanfront acres on Dec. 8.
